Charles Manson

Charles Manson was the crazed cult leader whose followers, “The Manson Family,” carried out a string of home-invasion murders in the late 1960s. He was notorious for masterminding the blood-soaked slaying of pregnant actress Sharon Tate and others in Los Angeles. Manson was influenced by drugs including LSD and by popular music like The Beatles song “Helter Skelter.” A budding musician himself, Manson composed music for The Beach Boys and was friends with the band’s drummer, Dennis Wilson. He died in 2017 after spending more than forty years in prison.
